Should I drop ele for ritualist?
Sorry guys for another one of my noobish threads but I looked and can't figure this answer out. I'm new to the game and don't really know much about it yet.
I watched a few videos of the ritualist spirit spammer build and like it alot. More than what I do now on my ele anyway. I was wondering if I would have to reroll to make the most out of that build, or could I accomplish everything with a ritualist as a secondary? http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Rt/any_Spirit_Spammer |

The Spirit spam build is a pretty easy way to play the pve part of the game some say too easy.
Up to you if you want to drop the Ele and take the Rit but be careful about doing so for one build. Some time in the future they may well alter some of the spirits and reduce its effectiveness. Signet of Spirits seems to be the skill most in danger as you get 3 spirits for no energy cost. If you like other things about the rit and it suits you style of play go for it. Ele has a lot going for it with its great attacking and defensive skills and large energy pool. If you just want to spirit spam then yes you can take rit as a secondary class and run a very effective spirit spam build that way. In any case you have more than one character slot so you can always run both. Last edited by gremlin; Oct 23, 2010 at 04:27 AM // 04:27.. |

I find that an Ele is best suited for the AP PvE skill build, good for discord heroes:
Glyph of Immolation Assassin's Promise "You Move Like a Dwarf!" Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support "Finish Him!" Signet of Deadly Corruption Glowing Gaze Meteor Every team can use a SoS Ritualist. It's up to you if you think the extra damage from your PvE skills outweighs the ability for all your spirits to be balled up and teleported next to you for the next mob. |

Why would you want to reroll? Are you out of character slots?
There's no doubt that a Rit primary will always be the better spirit-spammer, because, with runes, they can have up to 16 in a given attribute -- their spirits will be higher level and sturdier. That said, some other professions can be pretty decent spirit spammers. I run an SoS spam build on my ranger for farming purposes, I just have to carry Armor of Unfeeling and Spiritleech Aura to make up for my flimsier spirits (though I admit I may be making matters worse for myself with Spiritleech Aura due to the shocking attribute spread). I have heard of Eles running spirits, too, thanks to their high energy pool. Just be mindful of your insignias, as you won't get to use Shamans and something like Blesseds won't help you much, either, since you won't be enchanting yourself as you would with a standard ele build. There's certainly no harm in getting the skills on your Elementalist and trying it out. If it works for you, great. If you like it but get frustrated by weak spirits, you can then roll a Rit with certainty. If you find it boring (some do), you haven't really lost much. |

Like I said, I'm a noob, I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm just trying to find the most efficient/safest profession to fill my HoM, and be relatively self sufficient. |

If you own multiple campaigns, try starting another character in a different campaign. The beginning of each story (i.e. before you can switch between continents) is quite different. |

I advise against. It'll be faster to learn how to play the elementalist right. Also, you can simply make one of your heroes an SoS spammer.

Why re-make? Just leave your ele aside while you bring up your ritualist. Ritualists are from Factions and they level fast in that one. I was able to bring mine up to level 20 before she left tutorial land.

Just remember that gaining the skills for the rit won't be any easier than getting them for the ele. Other than that, create a rit and have fun. You might discover you like the profession better than the ele. We keep telling people that if you plan on making a profession your main character for titles, etc., then you better enjoy playing that profession.
Try out all of them until you find the one that fits your play style. But that doesn't restrict you to only one profession. I have one of each except Paragon, and while my main is my warrior, I have fun with the others also. |

My 2 cents.
The best way to do a Spirit Spammer is with a Rit primary. As Star_Jewel pointed out, the spirits will do more damage and be sturdier, plus you will have skill slots available for things like Painful Bond and Pain Inverter. Those slots may be taken up by Spiritleech Aura and Armor of Unfeeling, etc., in a Rit secondary build.
Spirit Spam + Painful Bond = Lots of damage numbers. |
